Labor Day

Labor Day we planned to go canoeing with my mom's side of the family.
We were worried about the weather however so we met at an
"undisclosed location" and did some climbing and ropes course.

Saying hello to our old friend Hoppy

I can't believe I forgot to blog about Hoppy.
Hoppy was the main source of excitement for the summer.

My Dad brought him home to us from Guatemala and he is a huge grasshopper.

Zack trying out the slackline.

Ruby helping "baby Morgan" along

I was so surprised that Zack let my dad harness him and raise him 20 feet into the
air. I was very proud of him. I think he had a great time.

Zack and Bella raced

Some cousinly competition

Cute Luke

I was surprised that Ruby didn't want to go up, she is my dare devil.
This is as close as she would get to going up.

Cute Newlyweds on a tandem bike.

Donuts

You cant buy HAPPINESS,
But you can buy DONUTS,
And that's kind of the same thing.
(I would say the same for chocolate)

After Grandpa died our sweet neighbor brought us a box of donuts
(among many other things she did for us)
I'm not usually a big donut person but i'll tell you what,
these sure hit the spot!

Silver Lake

One afternoon in August we took a trip up to Silver Lake.
My Grandma, Mom, Aunt and her granddaughter and my crew all ventured up together.

We met new friends

Got some energy out

More new friends

Had fun posing like Super Heroes

And talking

Grandma trying out a new style

Runnin Ruby

We had a great afternoon up there. Made me wish we had gone up more during the summer.

August

August, what a month.
2 weddings and a funeral to say the least.

I began doing daycare again August 1st.
My brother got married August 5th.

We kind of celebrated our 6th Anniversary on August 8th.

August 11th we spoke in church and that evening my grandpa passed away.

August 17th Kevin's brother got married.

August 18th was my grandpa's funeral.
I had the honor of speaking at the funeral. That was a wonderful and rough day.
(Need to get pictures from people)

August 21st was Ruby's surgery as well as Zack's 5 yr appt and shots
Wasn't easy but we pulled it off!
Already blogged about that

Kevin was in charge of our ward campout on August 23rd and 24th.
The kids were in heaven. They had so much fun.
Made me wish we camped... EVER.
Well, maybe not.
Much much better than last year. I swear they cried an entire day afterword.
We had a lot of fun even though it rained in the evening.

And Zack got glasses on August 26th.
For some reason his eye appointment was really stressful for me.
I have perfect vision so the eye doctor isn't something I am familiar with.
We waited a long time, so from the beginning we were anxious.
The nurse did an exam, and then dilated the poor kids eyes and made us wait for
probably 30 minutes. Zack began to get worried and I could tell he was having
a hard time. This made me anxious as well. Finally we saw the Dr, but he took forever
trying to get Zack 20/20 vision but wasn't ever successful. Which made me even more
nervous! We set an appointment for 3 months and will have him checked again.
For now he is loving his glasses. When we picked them up he was so amazed at
what he could see. We walked out of Walmart (ehem, rip off!) and he immediately
looked up at the mountains and said "MOM, there's poles up on that mountain!
There's big ones and smaller ones! I can see them!"
Poor kid. Didn't even know he was blind.
Zack has been very responsible with his glasses. He hardly ever takes them off.
I was worried because he got them the day before school started so he didn't
even have a chance to get used to them but he has done really well.

This is why i'm behind on blogging :)

We also saw our West cousins somewhere in there.
Here are some cute pictures from that day

This little Missy

This little Missy went to bed at 8 pm.
(but wouldn't stay)

This little Missy finally fell alseep around 10

This little Missy woke up around 1:20 and played and played and played.

And this little Missy stayed up all the way until 5 AM.

And this little Missy's parents cried "We need sleeeeeep!"
All the night long.

Side note: She is just like her brother, She sleeps with
2 horses, 3 kittys, 1 lamb, a bird and her baby.

Any suggestions on how to get this one to stay in bed?
Did i hear cage?
Staying asleep isn't usually the problem.

Rain

I love me a good storm!
The kids decided since they had their helmets on they would be okay to play in the rain.

I have such good memories of dancing in the rain with my oldest brother.
