Welcome to the West's Side of the Story: Cayucos part 2

Day 6

San Luis Obispo

Children's Museum

Not a lot to say, kids had a good time.
Had my first Doritos Locos Taco on this day. It was way good.
Also a lot of fast food restaurants in CA don't have drive through windows.
Which happened to be really inconvenient.

Day 6 Later On
Kevin and I (just the 2 of us!) drove up the coast to a pier near Hearst Castle -if you know
where that is. We had heard about this really neat hike that we wanted to check out.
You begin on the beach and end up on cliff, see picture below.

We had to climb up small hill and over a fence to get to the trail.
Over the fence, TRESPASSING onto Hearst property, I thought their cows
were going to eat us. Picture below, looking out towards the pier.

We didn't go there because tours are really expensive. But I think
it would be cool to see someday. Perhaps when we go back to Cayucos
in 10 years when Kevin graduates!

Walking through the eucalyptus forest to get to our destination was nerve
racking. I was so scared we were going to be hunted down and shot.
I think what made it more scary was that no one else was around.
Once we made it to the cliff I was able to chill out.

So here we are sitting on a rocky cliff over looking the ocean. It really was
a neat spot, and the fact that we were completely alone without
kids whining etc was amazing! Kevin wanted to go down and explore the
beach below but the I didn't really want to finish up this amazing vacation alone
so I wouldn't let him. Every party has a pooper... and it's always me :)

Bliss on the cliff. Just before I started taking pictures up there
my camera ran out of memory, so I quickly scrolled through the
other 500 pictures I had already taken and deleted all the dumb ones.
Thank heaven for digital!

Day 7

Elephant Seals are stinky,

but really interesting to watch.

There were hundreds of them. We never figured out why they

like this beach in particular. Maybe that's where the people come, and they come to

see the people. There were hundreds of them too.

They were huge.

After that we went back to the beach where we took our hike so
Kevin's parents could go check it out.

They thought this chain was the best. Looking for a big chain to give them for Christmas...

Heard of Zebra owned by Hearst Castle. Never thought i'd see a heard of

Zebra on the coast of CA.

This is an OKAY view of upper Cayucos, does not do it justice.

The evening of Day 7 was our last night in Cayucos so we had to go to the

beach one last time... we didn't want to leave!

Blogging these pictures is making me sad,

BUT, also grateful that we were able to go and that we

had such an amazing time!

Kite flying one last time, yes that's the baby flying it.

I think the thing I loved most about Cayucos was that it is just a
sleepy little beach town, everyone closes when it gets dark, or sooner.
No one is in a hurry, it's just laid back and no big deal. LOVED THAT!
It helped that we only had to worry about eating and sleeping
and that the kids didn't drown in the ocean, but you know what I mean.
