Our Family

In the beginning Kevin and I worked at the same company. We knew of each other and I have to admit I noticed him. But, he was too tall and I just found out that according to him, I was too skinny at the time. Plus we were both seeing other people. Kevin became manager of his department in September (I think) of 2006. Suddenly we found ourselves working a little closer and I found that he was kind of charming, even though he was still tall. After I think a week of flirting we were talking on the phone at work and he asked me out. I thought he was joking and quickly changed the subject. The poor guy had to muster up the courage to ask me out again. He asked me but never specified when. I had to call him a few days later and ask him when he was going to take me out. (conveniently I didn't have anything going on that night so.....) We went out. He kissed me on the first date!!!! I hadn't ever experienced that before. It took my first boyfriend about 2 years to kiss me! Long story short were engaged within 2 months and began that wonderful journey called engagement. Luckily we made it through it and here we are. Kevin and I have been married for a year and... 5 months. We were married in August of 2007 and found out a month later that Zackery was on the way. SURPRISE! I quit my job a month before we got married and was trying to find a new job when we found out we were prego. I had morning sickness pretty bad and was lucky enough to find a really really great part time job where I could work when I felt well and stay home when I didn't. Pregnancy was rough on a little thing like me but I'd do it again in a heartbeat! Well, maybe a few years. Kevin was really great though and didn't always fall asleep when I needed him to rub my back. It was Mothers Day and I pretty much had given up on Zack coming early so I was trying to enjoy the day even though I wasn't a mother. We were visiting Oakley with Kevin's family and I think it all started when I was holding Zack's cousin Bella who was born on my birthday, 11 days before. We left soon after that and on the way home I felt really car sick. A 2 hour drive might do that to you. We got home at about 10:00 pm. I still didn't feel well. Things started happening and after a phone call to my mom I was pretty sure HE was coming. I tried to tell my mom that I wasn't ready and I even cried, but she said I had to do it anyway and it will be fine. We started power reading our labor books suggested to us by our Doula. We needed to time contractions but everything is digital! We almost went down to use the microwave when we figured out that Kevin's ipod had a timer. Wow they were coming fast and regular. Oh crap! We packed and went to the hospital. It was 2 in the morning. We had been up all day and now this yeah! To make another long story short Zack was born at 8:04 am I believe. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and it really didn't seem like it took a long time. I did get the drugs due to things beyond my control. I tried to go natural. Oh well, it's only nerve damage. Zack was so little, 6.2 oz and 19 in. My mom walked in the room 2 minutes after he was born. We weren't thinking clearly and didn't give her very good information so she just decided to come. I was soooo happy when I saw her. One of the best moments in my life was seeing my mom and telling her "look! look!" I got to call my dad after that and tell him the news. He was getting ready to give a presentation I think, but he took my call, it was so nice to talk to him. We called Kevin's family and they all thought we were lying because we had just seen them the night before. Kevin's mom happened to be in town for Bella's birth so she got to see Zack before she went home. It was so nice to have her there! Much to my surprise I didn't have to have stitches or anything. The nurse told me I was made to have babies. YIKES! Zack was beautiful. He was perfect. He is huge now. I can't even imagine how small he was. His cousin Bella weighed about 8 pounds at birth. She looked huge next to him. Now he out weighs her by at least 5 pounds.
The last 8 months of my life have been incredible! I am lucky enough to stay home with Zack and enjoy every minute of it. Even when I think 6:00 couldn't come soon enough I know I am so lucky and am so appreciative of Kevin for that gift he has given Zack and I. We had another exciting thing happen to us in October of 2008. On the 18th we were sealed as a family -FOREVER- in the Salt Lake Temple. It was a wonderful evening even though Kevin and I got in a HUGE fight that day and Zack screamed until we did the sealing, then he settled down a little bit until everyone left. Then he was peachy. My life has been so blessed since we made this step. One morning I woke up really happy and I wondered why am I so happy all the sudden? What's different? The temple.

Hi Rachel ,

It's Ryley's sister! Very cute post. I love how you summed up the last few years of your life in one post.

Okay, so here's my blogging advice, not that I'm an expert or anything . . . I have no idea how to get cute backgrounds, I think that's Katie's department!! I just used a plain template and picked different background and font colors. You can add a picture at the top and on the sidebar by adding them to the template . . i think in the settings (??) I have a music player on my page that you can click on to go to the website, then you can add your music player (after you create it) to the template too. (Settings ??) Okay, maybe I wasn't too much help!!

Welcome to the Blog World . . .glad you followed the crowd!
