Dear Zack,
Your first day of Kindergarten has come and gone. It's hard to believe you are that old!
You had a great first day. I don't think you were nervous at all. The night before we were saying
your prayers and I prayed that you wouldn't be nervous. When I was done you told me
that I didn't have to pray for you because you weren't nervous. You were right because you
ran and joined your class and never looked back. I thought I would be just fine leaving you there
but I have to admit I was holding back tears and almost lost it when I called Daddy to
inform him that my influence on you had ended now that you've entered the public school system.
Sorry about the glare on your glasses. I was too cheap to buy the anti glare and now I wish I would have.
You are lucky enough to have 3 of your friends in your class and one friend in the other class.
After we picked you up I asked what you had done that day.
You told me "Well, i'll tell you what we didn't do.... We didn't paint!"
I guess Emily had told you that in Kindergarten they paint everyday.
After school we took you, Ruby, Grandma Strebel and Daddy to lunch at our favorite place.
JOE MORLEY'S!
You topped the day off with a slice of peppermint pie AND a slice of mud pie.
Adjusting to this new school life has had it's challenges. You don't like getting up early
and you have a REALLY hard time eating breakfast in under 2 hours, but we are working on it.
You have been fairly cooperative in doing the mountains of homework that you have.
You have been working on larger numbers and even reading!
You say that you don't like to read but I hope that changes as it gets easier for you.
You are a smart boy and I know you will go far!
Love,
your MOM
